In 1939 the rescue company ordered the construction of a series of 6 steel beach lifeboats, which were stronger and cheaper than the wooden lifeboats until then. The 'President Steyn' was the first of the series and was stationed at Egmond aan Zee station after delivery on 23 November 1939. She remained in service until 1958. In these almost 20 years, the 'President Steyn' made 20 trips and rescued 49 people.
The yacht builder Jan Jongert from Medemblijk bought the ship from the N.Z.H.R.M. and grew it for their own use.
The yacht version 'President Steyn' is well maintained and is suitable for an extensive sailing area that extends from the interior to coastal waters.
